Support the daily husbandry and welfare of exotic pets and animals in specialist centres, rescue facilities, or veterinary practices, including handling, cleaning, and basic health checks.
Salary: £20,000 – £28,000 per year - Reptile / Herpetology Keeper
Specialise in the care of reptiles and amphibians, managing temperature-controlled environments, nutrition, breeding programmes, and behavioural observation in collections or sanctuaries.
Salary: £23,000 – £35,000 per year - Veterinary Care Assistant (Exotics Focus)
Assist veterinary teams in exotic animal clinics with handling, restraint, treatment preparation, first aid, and nursing care for species such as reptiles, birds, rabbits, and exotic mammals.
Salary: £21,000 – £29,000 per year - Exotic Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Worker
Care for surrendered or rescued exotic animals in specialist sanctuaries, providing husbandry, medical support, behaviour assessment, and preparation for rehoming or permanent sanctuary placement.
Salary: £20,000 – £28,000 per year - Private Exotic Animal Collection Manager / Assistant
Manage or assist with the daily care, biosecurity, and welfare of private exotic animal collections (reptiles, birds, invertebrates) while ensuring compliance with welfare standards and legislation.
